Stephen Heppell: What is wise for parents in this new digital age?

A short edit from the recent Stephen Heppell seminar on what is wise for parents in this new digital age.

Children’s phones have gone from something you needed to be ready for Big School to simply something you need.  In Estonia children already have their smart phones out in their play-schools. iPads and tablets have poured into Jersey’s homes. TV has gone 24/7 and multichannel with children clamouring to have a set in the bedroom. There are a lot of screens.

Parents want the best for children - but what does the best look like? What choices should a parent make in this rapidly changing joined up digital world, where email is now what your dad does, Facebook is for Aunties and the cool kids are loving the limits of Twitter or Vine?
