JT is the Channel Islands’ incumbent carrier with global operations in Melbourne, Copenhagen, Boston, Chicago, London, Jersey and Guernsey. Its M2M/IoT business (www.jtm2m.com) has flourished in recent years with the company’s NOMAD platform shortlisted for the World Connectivity Awards Best IoT Connectivity Platform 2016.
Specialising in device management and diagnostics, billing and rating, customer service and radio infrastructure, JT’s testbed will address LoRa technology. This will be done through deploying the technology across the Channel Islands, integrating it with NOMAD and providing easy access to a wide of customers to run proofs of concept, experiments and garage-type innovation.
Customers of JT’s M2M/IoT business range from building management firms, to States government departments, to agricultural companies. The support provided to these customers enables them to reach their goals by providing infrastructure, device procurement, deployment guidance and device visibility/control through NOMAD. Only JT can bring together device, radio, network, management, billing and diagnostic in one place.
When asked ‘Why Jersey?’ Paul Bullock, Head of M2M, responded: “JT is unique in that its scale is an asset, we are agile with easy access to expertise. Jersey itself provides a microcosm of the broader developed world within which to conduct testing, experiments, market proofs and other development activities; our far-reaching expertise teamed with Jersey’s strengths as a testbed is what makes the island ideal for our M2M/IoT business.”
