Jersey based digital start-up, Soulgenic, is launching a unique and immersive online wellness platform that’s going global in 2018. The innovative 360 approach provides a total wellness solution, encompassing mind as well as body and allowing users to integrate it with their existing way of life. Soulgenic’s digital business, and its associated St Helier club, are creating 40 new job roles and working with local Jersey suppliers.

Soulgenic has been in development for two years. Founded by CEO Glenda Rivoallan, a seasoned health and fitness professional, the company is calling on a wealth of experience and expertise. It is a joint venture between Glenda and Jersey-based digital agency Webreality.

Glenda was the Founder and Director of the Healthhaus health club brand and has spent 20 years in the business, opening over 200 clubs.

Webreality was founded in 2000, and its team of 19 professionals look after the technology and marketing requirements of over 150 clients in the UK and the Channel Islands.

Glenda commented:

“I was really frustrated with not being able to access a total wellness solution without using multiple apps all at once. I just felt that our industry had failed to integrate the key pillars of health in an integrated approach that meets modern day demands. Soulgenic allows our consumer to experience not only fitness solutions but also solutions for nutrition, mind body and health. We also aim to improve access and affordability of wellness offerings to the masses. It’s ironic and quite frankly sad that the very people who need us the most are usually the very people that can’t afford the service – we aim to change that and effort will be rewarded with reduced membership rates.”

The digital start-up will be providing around 40 jobs and has been supported by Digital Jersey. It is showcasing local practitioner talent in its digital content, and is using the services of a wide range of local suppliers, notably Slingshot Films, who have been contracted to provide vital video production services.

The start-up initially used the Digital Jersey Hub for office space and received guidance and advice on funding and licences from the government-funded digital industry body.

Digital Jersey, CEO, Tony Moretta said, “Soulgenic is exactly the kind of business we want. It’s innovative, it creates local jobs and it works with other established local businesses. It’s a win-win for our economy.”

Matthew Robins, Chief Executive of Webreality, said:

“It’s very exciting to be building a product that has the potential to change people’s lives for the better. We are working hard to develop a user experience that people will really want to engage with. The Soulgenic team includes stellar health, fitness and wellness practitioners, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

An impressive line-up of local professionals will be creating the content, including Dr Andrew Mitchell, (Jersey’s Consultant Cardiologist), Kit Chamier (nutritionist) and Dan Ireland (mindfulness coach) from Jersey, and Katie Bulmer-Cooke (fitness coach) and Rosalie e’Silva (yoga instructor) from further afield.

Soulgenic has already secured its first local corporate client in the form of the Channel Islands Co-operative Society.  All of the local retailer’s 1000 employees will be given access to the online platform in 2018 to support staff wellness.

Donna Abel, Chief Human Resources Officer, said:

“Soulgenic is an inspired team of the very best of local talent. Their product is hugely relevant in addressing total wellbeing in the workplace and makes wellbeing initiatives more accessible. We are extremely proud to be their first corporate partner in this exciting project and look forward to our staff experiencing it first hand.”

In addition to the online platform, in January 2018 the team are launching Club Soulgenic, a fully integrated fitness and wellness centre in St Helier. The club will include a Nude Food café, a personal trainer suite, three class studios, and a suite of specialist resident health practitioners, in a dedicated, state of the art centre in Union Street.
