Frank Walker

Frank Walker has spent his entire business and political career in Jersey. Having founded his own advertising agency in 1969, he took over W.E Guiton Ltd, the parent company of the Jersey Evening Post in 1973. He led the team who developed the company into the Guiton Group, which listed on the London Stock Exchange, and became one of the most sought after C.I. stocks, until it was sold in 2004.

He was elected to the States of Jersey in 1990 and after holding a number of Presidencies and other senior positions he was elected Jersey’s first Chief Minister in 2005, retiring as planned in 2008. When he left office the Island had no debt, a balanced budget, and substantial reserves.

Frank has long believed that the development of a Digital economy and a Digital society is essential to the Island’s future and he led the group whose recommendations led to the formation of Digital Jersey. He also chaired the Telecoms and egov Technical Action Group in the company’s early days.

He also chairs the Board of Jersey Choice Ltd., a local company which exports Jersey grown plants and associated garden supplies to the UK. He is a Churchwarden at St. Brelade’s Church and a Trustee of the Sanctuary Trust charity.
