As part of a small team you will develop and manage both commercial and collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from the public sector, agencies and government partners to start-ups/ scale-ups and multinational corporations. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for delivering against the Digital Jersey Business Plan, specifically to develop & grow the digital economy.  Reporting to the Head of Business Development, particular focus for this role will be on the finance sector with engagement across local firms and Fintech companies/entrepreneurs on and off the Island.

Reporting to: Head of Business Development

Key responsibilities:  

  • Assist in implementation and delivery of the business plan
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners and suppliers and encouraging collaborative working – these include locally: Government, Digital Jersey members, entrepreneurs, inward investment businesses and local tech companies
  • Development and ongoing facilitation of industry working groups and forums in the Fintech space
  • Market research and development of feasibility studies
  • Organising Fintech workshops & networking events
  • Close collaboration with Jersey Finance, the JFSC and the finance sector
  • Ensuring effective communication with stakeholders
  • Support with marketing and PR

Additional responsibilities:

  • Representing Digital Jersey at various functions & events
  • Developing Fintech sector knowledge
  • Occasional off-Island travel
  • Developing partnerships with similar off-Island organisations
  • Work on other projects and tasks as required

Skills Required:

  • Experience in managing business development activities, preferably in finance and/or technology roles
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Good technological understanding an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills
  • High levels of organisation
  • Social media comfort

 Experience:

  • Relationship management experience required
  • Financial services experience an advantage
  • Interest in disruptive technologies
