We’re looking for a talented Fintech Lead to join our team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for you to work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Role Overview:

Digital Jersey is leading Jersey’s digital transformation and is looking for a passionate Fintech Lead to join their team. You will develop strategic partnerships, manage critical Fintech work streams, and position the Island as a global Fintech leader. As part of a small team, you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including public sector agencies, government partners, start-ups, scale-ups, and multinational corporations. You will be responsible for delivering against the Digital Jersey Business Plan, with a particular focus on the finance sector and on growing the digital economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Fintech Strategy: Define and execute a bold strategy aimed at positioning Jersey at the forefront of global Fintech. Work alongside government, regulators and stakeholders to attract investment and foster innovation.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with global Fintechs, accelerators, and tech innovators. Bring world-class talent and expertise to the Island and promote cross-jurisdiction collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strengthen relationships with regulators, policymakers and industry leaders to drive growth and influence the development of Jersey’s regulatory landscape.
  • Market & Tech Expertise: Stay ahead of industry trends, including within the areas of blockchain, AI, RegTech, and digital assets and drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Create Industry Value Proposition: Design and deliver initiatives that add tangible value to Jersey’s Fintech ecosystem.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Digital Jersey at global conferences, events and panels. Drive forward-thinking discussions and promote Jersey as a hub for Fintech innovation.
  • Ecosystem Building: Foster a vibrant Fintech community in Jersey. Organise events, mentor startups, and support local firms in their efforts to scale their operations and navigate regulatory challenges.
  • Global Advocacy: Promote Jersey’s digital capabilities on the international stage. Be willing to travel to key markets to attract investment and grow the Island’s Fintech profile.
  • Team Collaboration & Support: Work closely with the wider Digital Jersey team to support the organisation’s core aims. Contribute to a strong team climate by leading and/or supporting key initiatives such as industry events, workshops and conferences. Work as a team player, fostering collaboration within the team to drive impactful results across the organisation.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Degree: A relevant degree, such as in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance or Economics is desirable but not essential.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Fintech Practitioner (CFP) or Certified Blockchain Expert (CBE) are advantageous but not essential.

Required Experience:

  • Business Development: Experience in managing business-development activities, preferably in finance and/or technology roles.
  • Relationship Management: Experience in relationship management, again preferably in finance and/or technology roles.
  • Fintech Industry Experience: A proven track record in the Fintech industry, with a deep understanding of emerging technologies and their applications in finance.
  • Product Management: Experience in product management, including product development, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with Jersey and UK financial regulations.
  • Experience with Open Banking: Familiarity with Open Banking initiatives and their impact on the industry.

Desirable Experience:

  • Agile Methodology: Experience of working in agile environments and using agile methodologies.
  • Data Analytics: Proficiency in the data analysis and interpretation required to inform decision-making.
  • Financial Services Experience: Experience in financial services is advantageous.

  • Leadership and Team Management: The proven ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Financial Knowledge: A good grasp of financial concepts, regulations and risk management.
  • Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of relevant technologies, including Blockchain/Web3, RegTech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing, and an interest in disruptive technologies.
  • Computer Literacy: Good technological understanding and computer literacy is vital. This includes proficiency with Microsoft suite, and social media and project management tools.
  • Personable: The ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Flexibility: The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to roll your sleeves up and ‘get stuck in’.
  • Organisation: High levels of organisation are vital, as is the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
