We’re looking for a multi-faceted individual to join us as a full-stack (mid to senior) software developer. At Enhance, we’re a small (but mighty!) team building and improving our flagship application Mosaic. You’ll work alongside product managers, designers, and other developers to conceive and build features and improvements using Ruby on Rails and React.

We believe in agility, iteration, continual improvement, and continuous deployment. We use modern development workflows based on GitHub, pull requests, code reviews, and automated tooling to optimise developer productivity.

Key responsibilities

– Making technical recommendations regarding the development of Mosaic, under guidance from the Development Manager

– Assist the Development Manager on software design and coding, considering recommendations from the rest of the team or other parties as required

– Design, build, and maintain clean, efficient, and reusable code

– Be aware, and capable, of designing good data structures

– Implementing new features based on business requirements

– Troubleshooting, debugging and upgrading software

– Help ensure that the codebase conforms to our coding standards, best practices, and, where required, refactor code that does not meet those standards

– Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

Skills, knowledge & expertise

– Experience of building web applications using an MVC framework (preferably Ruby on Rails)

– Have a solid understanding of a JavaScript framework (preferably React)

– A strong understanding of a version control system, preferably Git

– Practical experience working with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, NoSQL)

– Producing well-designed, testable, efficient code

– Experience with working with third party API’s

– Proficient using software engineering tools

– Work in a highly organised manner

– Good written and inter-personal skills

– Ability to work independently & undertake tasks to completion

– Accuracy & attention to detail

– Ability to demonstrate good use of initiative, with good problem solving skills
