I’m Pete – Head of Marketing here at Pinpoint.

We’re a high-growth, bootstrapped HR-tech start-up building and selling software that helps in-house recruitment teams attract, hire, and retain the best talent.

Over 80% of our new business is sourced by marketing. This year we’re going to (1) double our rate of growth and (2) make meaningful inroads into a new market. 

So we’re growing our team. ?

You’ll be the second full-time member of the marketing team, so you and I will be working super closely to deliver some huge goals. You can work remote (US, UK, Europe) or from Jersey (UK).

You’ll get access to all parts of the business and have input into all areas of our marketing.

We’ll split up the work based on each of our strengths, but I’ll be up-front—there’s a lot to get done and the pace won’t be for everyone.

Before we dive in, here are a few things to be aware of that might make you say “hell, yeah” or “hell, no”: 

We’re a revenue-focussed marketing team. Our goals are clear. We’re respected by the rest of the business and our CEO cares about marketing.

We have an interesting story to tell and our CEO is great in front of a camera, on a podcast, or on stage.

We have product market fit, and a mature well-designed product. Now we need to scale.

We’re fussy about quality, and care a lot about design.

You’ll have a big workload with lots to manage.

You’ll be constantly pushing the boundaries of your knowledge and experience.

You’ll need to learn fast (and we’ll give you support to do so).

What you’ll be doing

This is a super varied role, so you’ll get to work in all areas of marketing from educational content production to performance marketing, product marketing, and brand. Day-to-day you’ll be:

Owning our podcast (launching 2021)  including developing the plan, securing and co-ordinating guests, managing the production process, and looking after promotion/distribution. (This is the single biggest part of the role in 2021).

Planning and executing a wide range of marketing campaigns – running with some campaigns yourself, and taking a supporting role on others.

Owning our social media strategy including planning and scheduling content, and building our community.

Supporting our wider team with social media best practices and content creation.

Securing customer reviews on platforms like G2 and Capterra, and co-ordinating case studies with customers.

Producing content yourself, managing content production, and publishing content on our marketing website.

Finding opportunities for PR including keeping track of journalist requests and providing thoughtful responses, fast.

Identifying new distribution channels and delivering on our content distribution plan.

To do well in this role you’ll need to:

Care about design, know what “good” looks like, and be able to work with our internal team, agencies, and freelancers, to get a project where it needs to be.

Be a strong writer. It doesn’t have to be your main passion but you will need to be good at writing clear, concise copy. We’re a small team so you’ll likely be writing articles, web pages, emails, ad copy, and so on pretty much every day. Ideally you’ll also be a great proofreader.

Be good at learning new things, in depth, fast. You’ll be able to do your own research on a topic, then clearly articulate your findings both internally, and to our audience.

Be a logical problem solver with the ability to find, digest, and apply new information.

Be incredibly organized. There’s a lot going on, and you’ll be expected to manage a significant workload so it’s important you’re incredibly organized, you can keep others on track, and you do what you say you will when you say you will.

Care about understanding and using data. We use data to support our decision making and ensure marketing continues to have the respect of the rest of the business. You’ll own OKRs that contribute to the broader marketing team and business OKRs. 

In an ideal world we want to hire someone with meaningful experience in at least one of the following. But a proven track record of being a fast learner and delivering great results beats specific experience every time in our eyes.
