Digital Skills Courses (2021-2022) Design - InDesign

Fully funded as part of the Fiscal Stimulus Programme, our new Digital Skills Courses (2021-2022) Design – InDesign, begins in September and comprises weekly daytime classes over 6 weeks.


Discover the elements of visual layout principles and learn the essential graphic design skills you need to create your own professionally designed publications.

Course breakdown

Week 1: Finding your way around InDesign

  • UI, tools, panels and palettes, customising the workspace, InDesign Getting Started tutorial

Week 2: Workspaces & non printing tools

  • Importing text from word, Master pages, Frames, Add & format text

Week 3: Pathfinder

  • Wrapping text, Adding text to frames & threading, Type tool, character & paragraph panels & styles

Week 4: Tables

  • Multi page documents

Week 5: Layers

  • Effects & object styles, Clipping masks

Week 6:  Adding interactive elements

  • Exporting

Duration: 6 Weeks

Times: 11.45 – 13.15

Meet the Tutor – Sara Pike

Sara has spent over a decade working with leading global brands within multi-award- winning in-house creative teams, to bring advertising concepts and design ideas to life.

As part of the Digital Leadership Programme, Sara helps students understand the importance of graphic design in driving business objectives and develop the ability to implement key graphic design skills. Moreover, she teaches them how to use these skills to brief and plan graphic design work effectively.
