Drone Pilot Programme

This course covers the full range of knowledge from understanding how a drone works, right through to how to fly them safely & legally. You’ll leave the course with a thorough understanding of drone technology, its uses as well as some handy tools and techniques.

(please note: this course takes place over 4 evenings over 4 weeks)

Digital Jersey Xchange – St Brelade (Red Houses)
Physical flying sessions will take place elsewhere, but you will be informed on the course as to the location.

£150 (if you bring your own aircraft) 

Course Content:  

Lesson 1: Physics of flight, drone flying legally in the Channel Islands
Lesson 2: Learning how to fly your drone safely (indoor session)
Lesson 3: What is possible with your drone? – Learning your specialty 
Lesson 4: Learn to fly your specific use case (outdoor session) 

Meet the lecturers – Sebastian Lawson & Piers Cavill 

Sebastian is an aviation veteran, having been studying and building aircraft from a young age. He has global experience working on some of the most cutting-edge drone operations around the world. This includes working on the world’s first drone delivery operation in Rwanda, delivering vital blood supplies to hospitals. 

 Piers was born, brought up and educated in Jersey, at the age of 18 he left the island for 17 years. He returned to Jersey and retrained into Finance. After 10 years in Finance Piers started his own 3D laser scanning and CAD modelling business. Over the last five years this ground based LiDAR survey business has developed into using photogrammetry survey methods with drones (RGB/Multispectral/thermal) as well an airborne LiDAR drone.
