The Digital Jersey Academy is inviting applicants to its Introduction to Podcasting Course, which begins in March and comprises weekly lunchtime classes over 6 weeks.
It is being led by Terry Stevens, a media production specialist and lecturer who has over a decade of experience in short and long form media creation.
In that time he’s worked with a host of international media producers including HBO, BBC, TED Talks, iTunes and Netflix.
The course is available for anybody looking to improve their understanding of this growing medium and try their hand at idea generation and content creation. Companies looking to upskill members of their own workforce are also invited to consider nominating somebody to attend.
The once weekly sessions, each 1.5 hours long, are at lunchtime to allow candidates to fit them around their work.

Week 1: Getting Started
We’ll introduce productions workflows, how you get your podcast created from front to back and the steps you need to take. We’ll also look at creative ways to generate ideas to set your show apart. We’ll look at popular show formats to determine the best one for you and determine your likely target audience.
Weeks 2 and 3: Content Planning and Recording
We’ll move on to develop your initial ideas, adding structure and rigour to them.
This will also be were we learn how to use the recording studio and equipment used with industry best practise.
Week 4: Editing
Moving into post-production we’ll work with editing software to create your show’s sound, incorporating music and sound effects as we take your show from good to great with simple adjustments.
Week 5: Mixing
This is where we add the polish to your edited and arranged shows, improving the overall sound and quality of the produced work.
Week 6: Monetization and Growing Your Audience
With your finished show in the bag and a workflow established so you can repeat success we’ll look at methods to grow your audience and look toward strategies to monetize your content.
