Women in Tech: How to get started in the IT Industry

What it means to be a women in the technology industry and how we might encourage other women to consider a career in IT.

In her recent blog, ‘Empowering Women to Take on Tech’ Anna Milon has started a conversation in the Islands about what it means to be a women in the technology industry and how we might encourage other women to consider a career in IT. With less than 15% of roles in the IT sector taken by women, Anna’s talk will give an overview of her experiences, ways to enter the industry, the variety of roles on offer and signposting of where people who are interested can brush up their skills. Anna will also be opening the floor for a Q&A question session so that attendees can get tailored advice.   Anna’s Professional Biography Anna joined the C5 Alliance Group in January 2014 and is a Senior Consultant in the Bespoke Development team. She specialises in customising Microsoft Dynamics CRM for clients and uses her skills in software development to implement additional functionality. Anna is an expert in Adxstudio from Microsoft and, in combination with CRM, is able to create bespoke process management tools for major clients through online forms. She is also proficient in SharePoint and Office 365 as well as other Microsoft software and social media. Her past-experience in training and marketing has made her commercially aware and honed her interpersonal skills so Anna is able to quickly gain an understanding of client requirements and provide solutions that meet and exceed their expectations. Prior to joining C5 Alliance Jersey, Anna worked at an international legal and financial services firm, where she was responsible for online development of the Group’s websites, the SharePoint based intranet and online presence on third party sites. Here she gained extensive experience in managing SharePoint’s front end and training others to exploit SharePoint’s potential. In previous roles, Anna worked for a Trust and Fund management company as a Digital Manager and Marketing Manager for the Americas region and an International Bank as Research Manager. Anna has over fifteen years IT, technical training and marketing experience across banking and professional services sectors.
