I’m a game designer who has just finished the MA Game Design at Falmouth University.
I’ve spent the last four years learning my trade, the first three being undergraduate and the fourth being my MA. In my undergraduate, I learnt the fundamentals of Game Design, through working in multi-disciplinary teams on game projects.
My undergraduate degree allowed me to develop advanced level design skills, being a level designer on all three major projects I took part in. I learnt how to use the tools both Unity and Unreal Engine 4 provide and how to build fun levels with them.
Throughout all the teamwork I have done, I have used agile project management. Learning project management in these teams gave me a full understanding of how workflow works in industry, through taking part of sprint reviews, stand up meetings and scrum boards. In my third year of undergraduate I was the Scrum Master of my project, this that allowed me to learn hands on about the importance of effective agile project management.
I also learnt how to code and design systems and mechanics within games. This was mainly done through programming with C# scripts in Unity and using C++ blueprints for Unreal Engine 4.
My MA that I just finished this year allowed me to greatly improve upon the design skills I already had. Most of my work I did in my MA was code based. My C# skills have dramatically improved because of this, I feel now I can take my programming skills into a working environment along with my project management understanding and level design experience and knowledge.
I am looking for a permanent Game Design or Software Developer role. With the expertise and skills I already have I am eager to broaden my knowledge and design skillset by working in development teams on innovate design projects.
Please check out my portfolio of all the game design work I have done so far:
