HackJsy are pleased to announce the 1st and 2nd prizes for the forthcoming ‘Jersey Digital Health Hackathon 2015’:

  • 1st Prize – £1000 sponsored by Medtech.je
  • 2nd Prize – £500 sponsored by Co-operative Medical Care
  • 3rd Prize – To be confirmed

The hackathon, being held in association with Digital Jersey and sponsored by KPMG will be held at the Digital Jersey Hub in St Helier, Jersey (UK) from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th September 2015 and is free to attend.

For those attending from overseas, travel subsidies are available by application only, kindly sponsored by ORA (up to £50 for those travelling from other Channel Islands and up to £100 for those travelling from further afield).

The organisers hope that over the 36 hour period (participants are welcome to drop in and out), the attendees – composed of Designers, Developers, Project Managers and other Experts and enthusiasts will work in teams to build an app, site or solution based around the theme of ‘Digital Health’ – including, but not limited to Medicine & Medical Care, Fitness and Wellbeing – it might be simple or complex – all are welcome!

Matt Chatterley, one of the organisers, said: “We are thrilled to be running our third Hackathon after two very successful events and it’s only because of the fantastic support from our sponsors that we are able to do so. Digital Health is a big area of interest for Jersey and we hope that the weekend will help to boost both the visibility in and excitement around this area of innovation.”

Submissions will be judged a panel of judges including Mike Bretherton (Director, ORA), Dr Chris Hare (Consultant Radiologist, States of Jersey), Rob Kirkby (Partner, KPMG) and Ewan Davis (Digital Health Strategist). Thanks go to BCS Jersey for sponsoring Mr Davis’ participation.

About ‘Digital Health’

Digital health is the convergence of the digital and genetics revolutions with health, healthcare, living, and society. As we are seeing and experiencing, digital health is empowering us to better track, manage, and improve our own and our family’s health. It’s also helping to reduce inefficiencies in healthcare delivery, improve access, reduce costs, increase quality, and make medicine more personalized and precise.
