Digital Jersey, is delighted to confirm the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors to help with the organisation’s renewed focus and growth. Aaron Chatterley, Co-founder of online global retailer, feelunique.com, and Gailina Liew, who has a background in international biotechnology and innovation will join the board from January 2016.

Digital Jersey is the industry body responsible for developing and promoting Jersey’s digital economy. Chairman Paul Masterton said he is looking forward to the next stage: ‘We have come through our start-up phase, building the foundations for our organisation and for the digital sector in Jersey. Benefitting from the experience of our new CEO, Tony Moretta, we have now highlighted priorities for growth and areas where Jersey can excel.  These new additions to our board will help us to achieve this, ‘Aaron and Gailina are excellent choices to help us develop initiatives in the key digital sectors we have identified, and both of them have an impressive track record as innovators and entrepreneurs which fits well with our aim to develop Jersey as a test bed for new technologies.’

Gailina Liew is an entrepreneur and retired listed company executive with more than 20 years’ experience in commercialising personalised medicine and bioinformatics technologies. She has also established strategic alliances in North America and Asia, managed public-private partnerships and translated ideas into viable business opportunities. Gailina moved to Jersey in 2015 and was appointed as a Commissioner to the Jersey Appointments Commission: ‘I am looking forward to giving something back to the island we have recently made home. Jersey has a fantastic opportunity to create a strong global proposition in digital and I will be using the experience and contacts I’ve built up to help support Digital Jersey in its work.’

Jersey born Aaron Chatterley, is a partner at TechSmart Venture Partners, a venture capital fund focused on early stage digital and consumer businesses. He is also one of the founders of Europe’s largest online beauty retailer, feelunique.com: ‘I became involved as an entrepreneur from the outset of the internet boom, and I now get great satisfaction in being able to support and mentor new digital businesses through TechSmart. Joining the Digital Jersey board is an extension of this and I’m looking forward to being able to use my experience in supporting the industry aims and objectives and help develop our island’s digital sector.’

Senator Philip Ozouf, Assistant Chief Minister for Digital also welcomed the news, ‘This is now a step change in the importance of the Digital economy supported at the heart of government. These two new excellent Board appointments are an important further step change and I warmly welcome them.’

Paul Masterton also thanked Ivan Nikkhoo, and Ben Hammersley, who both stood down from the board in 2015 to pursue other interests. ‘We are very grateful to both Ivan and Ben for their hard work and insight as Digital Jersey was launched. Their input, drive and energy has been invaluable and we look forward to their continued support.’
