Insights

Working closely with government, industry, and external skills auditing experts, we’ve been able to identify the areas of our existing curriculum which contain the most digital skills.

We’ve developed a series of ‘heat maps’ to visualise the result of that process, to create at-a-glance views of which courses are most closely aligned to Jersey’s digital skills needs.

By identifying Jersey’s skills gap, and the smartest routes to closing that divide, the island is well positioned to be world-renowned for growing a future workforce equipped to meet that digital demand.

DDaT Professional Capability Framework

In order to provide a framework for re-skilling at scale we have adopted the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Professional Capability Framework which has been developed to support the UK public sector. This framework includes 25 skill dimensions which help both explain the requirements of digital roles to non-digital residents and supports a common language around future curriculum development. The adoption of DDaT will directly support curriculum developments in the workplace and education to upskill the existing workforce.

Skill DNA shows all skills and their transferability between different jobs and courses. You can discover the most common skills, identify skill gaps between courses and see which skills overlap with the job market.

What courses map to digital capabilities

The tech sector contains a wide range of jobs and skills but they all share a common set of core capabilities.  These capabilities are shown below along with which level 3 courses evidence of the most number of skills overlapping i.e. Design Technology has 36 skills evidenced in the curriculum which overlap with Non-Functional Requirements.  To learn more about the tech sector capabilities you can view the Digital, Data and Technology framework (DDaT framework).
