Nearly £11,000 was raised for cancer support charity Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey at an annual golf day hosted by C5 Alliance

Nearly £11,000 was raised for cancer support charity Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey at an annual golf day hosted by the Channel Islands’ largest technology solutions provider C5 Alliance, which is part of the BDO Group in Jersey.

The money raised will help the charity offer free emotional support, practical information, and group support to people in Jersey with any type of cancer and at any stage, along with their families and friends.

This is C5 Alliance’s fifth time hosting the golf day, the proceeds of which have gone to a variety of local charities.

The golf day, held at the Royal Jersey Golf Club, was one of only two charity golf days held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and was restricted in numbers this year in keeping with the current Government restrictions.

Stephanie Gibaut, Head of Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey said “We truly can’t thank C5 Alliance enough for their amazing fundraising efforts. Like many local charities, we have been greatly impacted by COVID-19 financially. This incredible £10,700 will enable us to continue offering the vital cancer support services so desperately needed for local people affected by cancer here in Jersey. We are so grateful”

Matthew Corbin, CEO of BDO Group in Jersey, said “We are thrilled to have staged the annual C5 Golf Day during these unprecedented times, and to raise nearly £11,000 – a record amount for our annual golf day. Macmillan is an extremely worthy cause and supports so many of our Islanders. During this current pandemic, Macmillan like so many other worthy causes need as much support as possible because many of their traditional fundraising streams have stopped. We are very grateful for the generosity of all who took part and donated, and our sponsors JJ Fox Trading, Randalls and the Royal Jersey Golf Club for helping us to host this event and raise these important funds for Macmillan.”
