The Donna Annand Melanoma Charity
Each year, we ensure that the event gives back to the local community. In 2019 our chosen charity was the Donna Annand Melanoma Charity, whose dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to highlight the dangers of malignant melanoma as well as raising awareness of the disease.
Over the last decade, skin cancer rates in the UK have risen over 45%. It is now the fifth most common cancer in the UK and the second most common in people aged 25 to 49.
Prevention is a key factor for protecting yourself from the dangers of skin cancer. Generously apply a high-factor SPF sun cream, seek shade and wear protective clothing if necessary. It is also recommended to avoid tanning beds and make sure to check your skin and existing moles regularly for any changes. If you are concerned, please schedule a check-up with your GP or pop into one of the Donna Annand Bi-Annual Mole Clinics to get checked for free.
If you didn’t get a chance to donate on the night and would like to, you can do so here.
