About this event

Most businesses have already decided they want AI. The harder question is how to use it without exposing the firm.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: your team is almost certainly using AI tools right now, often through personal accounts, with no policy in place and no one keeping score. That’s where the risk quietly builds. Client data dropped into the wrong tool. Fabricated case citations turning up in court filings, which has already happened in Jersey and drew a pointed response from the court. Confidential information that isn’t confidential at all, and sits there waiting to resurface years later in discovery.

None of this means you should slow down on AI. It means you need the governance in place to speed up safely.

In this session, Phil de Gruchy of Blue Llama is joined by Rory Forrest of Sindri Consulting, who advises regulated and professional services firms on AI governance. Together they’ll walk through the foundations every business needs to adopt AI with confidence: a workable usage policy, a way to vet the tools your team wants to use, and a clear answer for what happens to client data once it goes into an AI system.

Expect plain English, real examples, and steps you can take straight back to your board, not a compliance lecture.

Who should attend

Leaders and boards in Jersey professional and financial services who are weighing up AI and want to get the governance right from the start
Compliance, risk and data protection officers who need a policy that will actually stand up to scrutiny
Any business owner who suspects, or already knows, that their team is using AI tools with or without sign-off
Anyone who has to answer for what happens if it goes wrong

What you’ll learn

What a workable AI usage policy actually covers, and how it flows down through the organisation so it gets used, not filed away
How to vet and onboard AI tools properly, including what really separates personal, commercial and enterprise licences for Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT
Where the real data protection risks sit: shadow AI, confidentiality, retention and discovery
The questions your board should be asking before it signs off on AI, and the answers that should worry you if you don’t have them
How to move fast on AI without leaving the firm exposed
