F1 in Schools

F1 in Schools is a global, multi-stage competition that tests your creativity, engineering skills, and teamwork. Design, build, and race your own miniature F1 car! Compete regionally, nationally, and even internationally!

F1 in Schools

Spanning age ranges of 9 to 19 our main objective is to help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop an informed view about careers in engineering, Formula 1, science, marketing and technology.

F1 in Schools Ltd is a social enterprise working with committed industry partners to provide an exciting yet challenging educational experience through the magnetic appeal of Formula 1. F1 in Schools is the only truly global educational programme that raises awareness of STEM and Formula 1 among students and school children in every region, in every country, on every continent.

What Happens

The F1 in Schools Challenge is a comprehensive, multi-stage competition designed to test and develop a team’s skills in various disciplines. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the journey:

Concept Development and Brainstorming The adventure starts with a burst of creativity! Teams gather to brainstorm and develop initial concepts for their miniature F1 car. This stage encourages innovative thinking as teams lay the foundation for their design.

Digital Design and Modelling Using advanced design software, teams transform their concepts into precise digital models. This process involves meticulous attention to detail to ensure the car not only looks sleek and aerodynamic but is also optimised for speed and performance.

Manufacturing and Engineering With the digital model ready, teams progress to the manufacturing stage. They employ specific materials and advanced engineering techniques to bring their digital design to life, constructing a physical model of their F1 car. This phase demands precision and engineering expertise.

Testing and Refinement The journey continues as teams subject their car to rigorous testing on a dedicated track. They analyse its performance, implement necessary adjustments, and refine their design to enhance speed and efficiency, echoing the practices of professional F1 engineers.

Race Day Finale All the hard work culminates on race day! Teams compete on a specially designed track to determine whose car is the fastest. This high-energy event marks the thrilling conclusion to the competition, brimming with excitement and adrenaline as teams witness their efforts put to the ultimate test.

The F1 in Schools Challenge not only promotes STEM education but also cultivates teamwork, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills, equipping students for future careers in engineering, technology, and beyond.
