Are you driven and excited to kick‑start your career while you study?

Our JE Bursary Scheme supports students with £2,000 per academic year throughout your 3‑year degree PLUS a minimum of 4 weeks’ paid work experience during your holidays.

Your placement with us is a chance to experience life at JE in action. You’ll work alongside our teams in a real work environment, gaining hands‑on insight into how your studies apply in practice.

You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to research or projects connected to your area of interest—building your confidence and strengthening your CV with meaningful, demonstrable experience.

Minimum of 4 weeks per year (additional time may be agreed based on availability and project needs). Placement typically runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 August in the year of graduation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support live projects through data analysis, research, testing, documentation, and general project assistance.
  • Contribute to exciting product development and internal tooling initiatives within the department
  • Rotate or shadow across key team functions — including consultancy, support, training, and business analysis — to gain a full end-to-end understanding of how we deliver value to customers
  • Get involved in day-to-day team activities and provide meaningful support where it’s needed most.
  • Participate in team meetings such as stand-ups, planning, and reviews — and share your ideas to help us continuously improve.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with people and values collaboration.
  • Naturally curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced tech environment.
  • A genuine interest in software engineering and related career paths such as consultancy, support, training, or business analysis.
  • Solid digital literacy (Microsoft 365/Office, research tools); exposure to Git, version control, or modern IDEs will be advantageous.

Additional notes:

Preferred degree disciplines: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related.

Useful technical familiarity: web fundamentals (HTML/CSS/REST APIs), basic SQL, version control (Git), modern IDEs (e.g., VS Code); exposure to our stack (TypeScript/React; .NET/C# APIs; Azure; SQL) is a plus—training provided.

Eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction and adherence to confidentiality and security policies.
