Non-Executive Director (NED)
Digital Jersey is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to join its Board.
The successful candidate will help provide strategic guidance, independent oversight and constructive challenge as Digital Jersey continues to support Jersey’s digital economy, strengthen the local technology sector, build digital skills, encourage innovation and champion technology adoption across the Island.
We are seeking Jersey-based candidates who have strong knowledge of the local digital sector and who can act as positive, credible champions for Digital Jersey and Jersey’s wider digital ambitions.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
- Contribute to the development and oversight of Digital Jersey’s strategy.
- Provide independent advice, insight and constructive challenge to the Executive Team.
- Support Digital Jersey’s long-term mission of accelerating Jersey’s digital future.
- Bring a strong understanding of Jersey’s economy, digital sector and wider business environment.
- Help identify opportunities, risks and emerging trends that may affect Jersey’s digital future.
Governance and oversight
- Uphold high standards of governance, transparency and accountability.
- Monitor organisational performance, risk and delivery against agreed priorities.
- Support sound decision-making and responsible stewardship of resources.
- Ensure Digital Jersey continues to operate in line with its purpose, values and stakeholder responsibilities.
Digital sector leadership
- Champion Jersey’s digital economy and the role of technology in supporting economic growth.
- Bring insight from digital, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, professional services, education, regulation or related sectors in Jersey and internationally.
- Support Digital Jersey’s work to strengthen the local technology sector, encourage innovation and build practical digital capability across the Island.
Stakeholder engagement
- Act as an ambassador for Digital Jersey and its work.
- Support strong relationships with members, businesses, government, educators, entrepreneurs and the wider community.
- Use personal networks and influence to help Digital Jersey connect with the right people and opportunities.
- Promote collaboration across Jersey’s digital ecosystem.
Board and committee participation
- Attend and actively contribute to Board meetings.
- Prepare fully by reading papers and considering key issues in advance.
- Participate in one or more Board sub-committees, as agreed by the Board.
- Attend selected Digital Jersey events and stakeholder activities where appropriate.
Person specification
Essential criteria
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Jersey residency and a strong understanding of the Island’s economy.
- Strong knowledge of Jersey’s digital, technology or innovation sector.
- Experience of the application of Digital, Technology and Innovation beyond Jersey
- A genuine interest in Digital Jersey’s mission and impact.
- Senior leadership, governance, commercial, entrepreneurial or board-level experience.
- Strong strategic judgement and the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Confidence to provide constructive challenge in a collaborative way.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- High standards of integrity, discretion and accountability.
- Ability to act as an effective ambassador for Digital Jersey.
Highly desirable criteria
It would be particularly helpful if candidates also bring one or more of the following:
- Active involvement in Jersey’s digital sector or innovation community.
- Current Digital Jersey membership or strong sector connection.
- Experience of scaling, advising or investing in digital businesses.
- Knowledge of AI, data, fintech, digital assets, cyber, software, product development, digital infrastructure or emerging technologies.
- Experience in governance, audit, risk, remuneration, nominations or public/private partnership environments.
- Experience overseeing budgets, management accounts or financial reporting, with formal finance qualifications considered an added bonus rather than a requirement.
- Strong networks across Jersey business, government, education or professional services.
- Experience supporting skills development, entrepreneurship, inward investment or economic diversification.
