Fintech and Regtech are two incredibly fast-moving sectors in the technology industry and our experience in this area means we understand the many challenges and opportunities that financial institutions, businesses, investors and start-ups face.

Being at the forefront of offshore regulatory and commercial advice means we have the experience and expertise to provide innovative solutions and advice on the technology used to support or enable banking and financial services, or to solve regulatory and compliance requirements more effectively and efficiently. Clients appreciate our extensive expertise and unrivalled client base in the technology industry, which includes global technology and telecoms companies, major financial institutions and banks, to start-ups and investors.

We have an excellent relationship with the Jersey regulator and have acted on some of the most innovative and exciting digital and Fintech developments to emanate out of Jersey in recent years, including our investment funds team advising on the launch of the world’s first ever crypto-denominated fund, a host of initial coin offerings and the establishment of the Jersey platform for the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance. Indeed, our investment funds team is the leading adviser to investment funds in Jersey since 2014 and advised on 66% of new investment fund business for law firms in Jersey between 1 July 2017 – 30 June 2018 (Monterey Insight, 2018).

We are also working with clients on cutting-edge technology projects. By supporting them with tailored advice, we are able to protect their position throughout the development and testing phases and foresee potential regulatory and compliance issues.

The broad range of areas we are equipped to advise technology clients on include the following:

  • Intellectual property;
