Bringing together a renowned panel of local and international expert speakers, we will examine the complex and vital topic of Artificial Intelligence. We will hear specialist insight into the possibilities, opportunities and potential pitfalls that AI presents for commerce and society both here and across the globe.
As our keynote speaker, we are privileged to be joined by leading Regius Professor of Computer Science at Southampton University, Dame Wendy Hall DBE, FRS, FREng, who will travel to Jersey to address our guests with a speech entitled ‘AI through the looking glass’, examining the capabilities of AI, its likely effect on jobs and its strategic importance to industry. She will also look at the potential threats of AI to ethics, accountability and diversity. Dame Wendy is the first and only appointed Regius Professor in Computer Science and is known internationally as a leading light in the development of Web Science, recognised the world over for her pioneering role as one of the first computer scientists to embark on serious research into multi- and hyper-media technologies before the existence of the World Wide Web. We are delighted to welcome Dame Wendy for her first speaking engagement in the island.
We will then hear from leading local Advocate Vicky Milner, of Callington Chambers, who will use her significant experience in employment law to discuss ‘AI, employment and ethics’. Vicky will raise questions around matters such as the impact of AI on recruitment, liability for AI and whether cost savings through use of AI justify the social impact.
Finally, to explore the Jersey-specific possibilities of AI- both now and in the future- we are pleased to welcome Digital Jersey CEO, Tony Moretta to deliver a speech on ‘The implications for AI in Jersey’.
Chamber Members are entitled to discounted tickets for this event, non-members are also welcome.
