The Jersey Women in Tech group are delighted to welcome technology evangelist, Dr Sue Black to the island.

Digital Jersey and the Jersey branch of the British Computer Society, are hosting this event.

Dr Black, is probably best known for launching Techmums, a social enterprise which empowers mums and their families through technology. She founded BCSWomen, the UK’s first online network for women in tech, and Dr Black also achieved recognition after launching a high profile campaign to get the women of Bletchley Park recognised for their contribution during WWII.

After finding herself as a single mum Sue Black decided to take control of her family situation and improve her earning potential with education. She took evening courses and eventually went on to study for a computer science degree.

Sue is now an Honorary Professor in the Department of Computer Science at University College London and a Senior Research Associate at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge.

Come along and listen to Dr Black as she shares her experiences and breaks down the perceived barriers for getting more women into tech. Everyone with an interest in balancing the tech industry workforce is welcome to attend. Come along and be inspired.

There will be the opportunity for networking and drinks will be served.
