WHAT IS THE HACKATHON?

The hackathon is an overnight digital creativity competition, with just 16 hours to get from an idea to a prototype. At the end of the Youth Hackathon, you will pitch your app, website, or whatever you dreamed up to a panel of judges and compete for prizes! Hackathons are a great place to learn quickly and create something awesome.

This year, there’s a theme for the Hackathon – Going Places.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Sign up here in Eventbrite! If you would prefer not to submit personal details online, there’s a paper form you can download and complete.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Hackathon is completely free for all registered participants! This is thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Ports of Jersey & Digital Jersey.

WILL THERE BE FOOD?

Absolutely! We’ll make sure there is plenty of food, snacks and drinks available at no charge. Friday evening will be pizza, with a late night snack, and they’ll be pastries for breakfast on Saturday. Let us know if you have allergies etc.

DO YOU HAVE A CODE OF CONDUCT?

Yes! Check out the link to the rules page.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Bring you, your computer, computer charger, toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste), and anything else you need for your hack. You won’t be sleeping so no need for PJs and sleeping bags.

THIS IS MY FIRST HACKATHON!

You’re more than welcome! We will have staff on hand to welcome you and no matter what your skill level is, you can take part and try and make something amazing.

WHAT AGE STUDENTS CAN ATTEND?

Any young person in school year’s 9-13 can attend.

HOW BIG ARE TEAMS AND WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ONE?

Gather your friends, work on your own, or build a team at the event. No worries about knowing anyone beforehand. The hackathon is great for creating new connections and meeting new people from around the Island. Maximum 4 people per team.
