The IoD Future Leaders Shadowing Scheme has been running for over 40 years, with KPMG in the Crown Dependencies as the main sponsor for the last 13 years.
The scheme is open to all Year 12 students, offering them a chance to shadow senior leadership at a company within an industry of their choice for a week.
Recognised across the UK and valuable for UCAS applications, gaining a place on the IoD Future Leaders Scheme is prestigious and highly sought after.
This year has been particularly successful, with 61 students participating in the scheme, including three placements at KPMG, who shadowed several partners, directors and senior managers from across the business.
The IoD Jersey 2024 Future Leaders scheme culminated in an awards ceremony at the Royal Yacht Hotel, where the Minister of Education, Deputy Robert Ward, presented the students with their certificates and awards.

Being actively involved in this programme aligns with KPMG’s core value of lifelong learning and helping young people broaden their work experiences, aiding them in making informed career decisions and becoming aware of the diverse career opportunities available on the island. It helps young people to find their path in life and giving them exposure to the world of work across a diverse range of industries.
Many IoD Future Leaders students have returned to the firm for longer periods of work experience or permanent roles, demonstrating that a week of shadowing can lead to significant employment opportunities and career growth.
