RBC Super League Triathlon Community Challenge

Posted: 04/09/2020

Jersey residents are being urged to get active and support an important local cause, with the official launch of the RBC Super League Triathlon Community Challenge.

The Challenge has been designed to keep alive Super League Triathlon’s focus on promoting health and wellbeing in the community, following the disappointing cancellation of this year’s event.

Getting involved couldn’t be easier, or more inclusive. Islanders are invited to collectively cover a 20,000km distance between 1 and 20 September, through swimming, cycling, running or walking. Just register each participant in your household at superleaguetriathlon.com/challenge/jersey/ and log your activity either via Garmin upload or by easily entering the distances on the website. Be sure to select your company or school from the list when registering, as a number of local employers are offering further incentives to their staff and one school will be in with a chance of winning a visit from a Super League athlete.

In further support of the Challenge’s focus on wellbeing, RBC has generously committed to match the achievement of 20,000km recorded by the community, with a donation of £20,000 to Mind Jersey’s Youthful Minds campaign, which works to tackle the stigma associated with children and young people’s mental health in Jersey.

David Bailey, COO, RBC Wealth Management, said: “Mental health and wellbeing are key to RBC’s culture and values, which is why we are very excited to join Super League Triathlon to launch this innovative challenge and continue our support of the Jersey community during this exceptional year. Our employees and their families will definitely be getting involved and we look forward to seeing what the island can achieve collectively.”

Super League said: “We are delighted to have already seen such a great deal of interest in the Challenge from our local partners and the Jersey community and we are thrilled that Mind Jersey’s important work will be able to benefit from the event if we all come together and smash our target. Please do post your photos and achievements on social media and tag us at #RBCSLT20for20 so that we can all cheer each other on.

We would also like to thank our corporate supporters – Mourant, Ravenscroft, Jersey Telecom and Visit Jersey, who are rising to the challenge and showing their support.”

Update

“The Jersey community has smashed the 20,000km target within seven days, so RBC and SLT have decided to raise the stakes! RBC will donate an additional £20,000 to Mind Jersey, if Islanders can reach 100,000km in total by 20 September.” Read more here: click here.
