Data Protection and the GDPR: Essentials for Technology Businesses

Join Davida Blackmore, Callington Chambers, in the Hub for a look at how the new EU legislation will impact on your technology business.

What do technology businesses really need to know about the Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

What are our legal obligations?   How does Jersey law tie in with the new European legislation coming into force in 2018 (the GDPR), which will affect not only residents of EU member states but also anyone outside the EU doing business in Europe?  Do we really need to be concerned about the GDPR in Jersey and, if so, how worried should we be?  What practical steps do we need to take to comply with the new regulation and what will happen if we do nothing?

Advocate Davida Blackmore of Callington Chambers will address the following, while giving you the opportunity to raise points of interest to you:

  • The essentials of data protection law
  • The changes that we expect to see in the next few years
  • Key considerations for Jersey businesses
  • The role of the regulator
  • How you can prepare for what’s coming

Advocate Davida Blackmore was called to the Jersey Bar in 2010.  She joined Callington Chambers, a boutique employment and data protection law practice, in September 2016 having previously worked as a civil and commercial litigator at a major offshore law firm with a particular focus on information law.  Davida is a specialist in data protection and has been involved in many of the recent cases involving data protection issues (both contentious and non-contentious).

Coffee and Croissants will be served.

Tickets to this event are now sold out.
