Trident is Jersey’s Year 10 work experience programme, giving students the chance to experience real working life while still at school. As part of the curriculum, it helps students build key skills like teamwork, communication and time management, supporting more informed choices about future education and careers.

The IoD Future Leaders Scheme gives students the opportunity to shadow a local business leader for one week, gaining real insight into leadership, decision‑making and the world of work. Students apply online, sharing why they want to take part, what they can bring, and which sector they’re interested in. Shortlisted students are invited to interview and receive valuable feedback on their application and interview skills. Successful applicants are then matched with a leader aligned to their interests.

The scheme launches each November, with applications closing on 16 January 2026, and typically takes place during Easter or summer holidays. Highly regarded by employers, it’s a great addition to university and future job applications.
