Islanders can now view and pay their GP bills using a PC, tablet, or mobile. GP practices across the island have partnered with local payment provider CityPay and local technology business Enhanced Technology to produce CityPay BPS (Bill Paying Service).
How does it benefit the patient?
The service offers a more convenient method of payment, providing an alternative to paying over the telephone or at the front desk. Invoices are sent electronically via email and/or SMS, along with an online payment link, to facilitate same-day settlement using their chosen method.
These online payments are more secure. Invoices and statements are password-protected, ensuring that only the intended recipient can view them and make payments.
The service also offers more flexibility, including the option to part-pay outstanding balances.
Chris, a local patient, shared his experience: “Just paid for GP appointment using CityPay link – very slick and easy”.
How does it benefit the GP practice?
BPS’ digital delivery means GP practices can receive payments immediately – significantly faster than the average of 60-120 days taken to pay paper bills.
Environmental sustainability outcomes are also improved, with a reduction in the paper, envelopes, printers, and toner involved in creating and sending invoices and statements.
There are further benefits in terms of time savings and accuracy too. Less time is spent on administration, and with that comes a lesser chance of human error, with payments automatically reconciled.
Andrée E Hidrio – Finance Manager shares “The BPS system provided by CityPay has allowed us to issue invoices and receive payments in a more user friendly and relevant way. It has made our payment processing very fast and effective.”
How it works
CityPay BPS connects a practice’s MediBooks billing systems with the customers’ preferred payment choice, with an easy-to-use API. This allows payment requests to be created, invoices to be attached, and then sent directly to customers.
Comprehensive dashboards within MediBooks keep practices consistently informed with the status of payments, with reconciliation automatically recorded in practices’ systems.
