Are you already working as a developer, are experienced and looking for your next challenge? Would you like to learn how to develop iOS apps?

Digital Jersey is building on the success of its coding course and, in response to a lack of app developers in the island, is launching a new iOS app developers’ course.

Who is it for?

This is not for beginners, you will need to have at least one year’s experience in development, with some server side knowledge and understanding of SQL. You will also need a mac machine with XCode and plenty of enthusiasm and drive.

How The Programme Works

How will it work?

The format will be similar to the popular coding course, six months, part time. Run two evenings a week with additional home working, you will be able to continue your day job while also upgrading your skills.

The first three months will be full-scale learning with the experienced mentors. The final three months will involve working on real-life projects (chosen by course leaders) to put those skills into practice. As this is a pilot programme, these timings may be subject to change if students complete the learning faster than timetabled. Six months will be the maximum duration.

The programme will be based at Digital Jersey’s Hub where learners can use the space for their personal learning and group projects. The programme will involve a mixture of classroom-based activity and self-taught study, with no examinations. The programme is interactive, utilising multiple media with a flexible format, and has been created, and will be supported by, ‘Mentors’ working in the Digital industry, so learners can be sure that what they’re learning is immediately relevant and up to date.

The two main mentors will be Tim Davidson, Hollis Consulting and Allan Pister, Mugla Kitty. Both have extensive commercial experience in developing iOS apps.

What are the outcomes?

By the end of the course you will have built a fully functional professional grade App in Swift.

The aim of the course is to help reduce the skills shortage in Jersey’s digital sector, cutting the amount of work that has to be commissioned off-island and up-skilling our existing workforce.

How to Apply

Applications are now closed.  Once applications close, shortlisted applicants will be invited to come for an interview before final selection takes place. The course will start Monday 23rd Jan and run for six months.
