Digital Jersey would like to make the public aware that there are security updates coming into effect 28th January which could affect consumers who make purchases online using credit & debit cards.

Industry security standards are being upgraded and while this will increase consumer protection, it’s advised that you have the latest browser version installed to avoid disruption.

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and organisations such as Visa require that TLS 1.2 be used for secure communications. The change will apply to those who accepts or want to make online payments by credit/debit card. The easiest way to stay compliant is for users to make sure they upgrade their web browsers to the latest versions. Users should also ensure that TLS 1.2 is enabled and should disable TLS 1.1 and below.
