Learn to build your own hi-spec Drone – so when you crash it, you will know how to repair it!

This one-day course includes all the materials you’ll need to be able to end the day with a fully-working fun new tech toy all for just £225.

How does it work?

Once you’ve registered and paid for the course, the kit you’ve chosen will be ordered for you. I will also pre-solder the power distribution board so that on the day of the course you can come along and get building. Later in the day, you will get to fly your new quadcopter. You will also get valuable material to take away with you to enjoy your new hobby further.

What level of technical capability/skill is needed?

Basic level understanding of technology, all concepts necessary can be taught on the day.

Will my drone be able to carry a camera?

Yes, it can be further customised for first person view racing or carry a fixed camera, it does not have a camera gimbal.

Why do this when you can buy ‘ready to fly’ drones

If you but a ready to fly drone, you will only learn when you crash it, as you will have to repair it without the knowledge of drone construction. Additionally, during the course day, you will be able to practice flying with a simulator or a Hubsan X4 mini drone to hone your skills

Are there any age restrictions?

The course is for 18 years+ One child over 10 is allowed per adult.

Do I need to purchase anything after the course?

After the course, you will need to purchase your LIPO battery charger which costs £15-£35.

Who is running the course?

The course is being run by Paul Dutot, who is an Incorporated Engineer and a Chartered IT Professional in conjunction with Digital Jersey.

Where is the course being held?

The course will take place at the Digital Jersey Hub, Grenville Street, St Helier.
