🚀 Youth Hackathon 2026 – Can You Do It Better Than The Adults?

Jersey has its fair share of challenges, from housing and sustainability to the future of our digital economy. The adults have been trying to solve them for years. Now, it’s your turn.

Digital Jersey and Prosperity 24/7 are handing you the keys. We’re looking for Year 9+ students (14+) to step up, disrupt the status quo and show the island what real innovation looks like. This isn’t just a workshop; it’s a two-day race to build the future.

The Challenge
Forget textbooks. You’ll be tasked with tackling Jersey’s biggest real-world issues.
Working in teams of 2-4, you will:

• Identify the Gap: Pinpoint where current solutions are failing.
• Build the Prototype: Move beyond ideas and build a working tech solution.
• The Big Pitch: Present your vision to a panel of industry heavyweights

Event Details:

Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm (both days)
Hackathon Event Location: Digital Jersey Academy

Event Schedule:

Day 1 – Ideation & Development

• 09:00 – Welcome & briefing
• 10:00 – Team formation, brainstorming & design
• 13:00 – Lunch
• 14:00 – Development session (with workshops)
• 17:00 – Close of day

Day 2 – Build & Pitch

• 9:00 – Coding & prototyping (with industry mentors)
• 13:00 – Pizza & networking
• 14:00 – Pitch practice
• 15:00 – Final presentations
• 16:30 – Awards ceremony

👥 Who Should Attend?

• Students in Year 9+ (aged 14 and above)
• No prior coding experience required – just curiosity and creativity!

Parents & Guardians
Parents/guardians are welcome to attend the final pitch session and awards ceremony on Day 2.
The pitches and awards ceremony will take place in the Digital Jersey Hub.

Catering
Lunch will be provided on both days for participating teens. Please let us know about any food allergies when registering for tickets. Students may bring their own snacks and drinks, but please note this is a nut-free event.

⚠️ Important Information

• Individual Participants: Teams can be formed on the day, we will match you with other individual participants, you still have the option to enter the 2 day competition solo.
• Participants should bring a laptop if possible.
• Teams (up to 4 persons): Before registering, please make sure you know your team mates info – full names, dietary requirements and t-shirt size.

Data Protection:
This event is organised by Digital Jersey. For data protection purposes, your personal data will only be processed for the purpose of this event. The attendee list will be monitored by Digital Jersey solely for event-related purposes and managing venue capacity requirements.

Marketing / Media:
As this is the first programme of its kind, we will be capturing photos and videos throughout the event for the purpose of promoting future events. We would advise you not to attend the event if you do not wish to be included in any media coverage. However, for those who prefer to avoid being photographed or filmed, we will ensure there is a designated ‘media-free zone’ in the presentation area where parents/guardians can enjoy the event without being part of the pictures, videos, or press coverage.
